On Thursday the 26th of October my form class went to Kairos for our studio film day. At Kairos we were to produce a small live TV show that we had prepared in our English class. For this, i was the director. I had the job of co-ordination the whole project for our form and making sure it all ran smoothly and that we got our end result. We decided to produce a game show type programme with a sudden breaking news in the middle. We had two families competing against each other answering questions. Along with our actors, we also had a whole crew on cameras, sound, and in the technical rooms on production. From this experience, i really learned how important it is not only to have a good set of actors but also an exceptional crew.
Overall I really enjoyed the experience and my job. I think I learned a lot from doing it and would love to do it all over again. I think it gave not only the people behind the camera but also the actors an eye opener to how much work is actually required to produce even a small show like this. Especially when it is live and you only have one take at the show there is a lot of pressure to get it perfect and sometimes the pressure can have an effect and sometimes taunt the people involved. Although we were rushed producing our show because of certain circumstances I think in the timeframe we had everybody performed exceptionally well and produced what they had to when they had to. I am extremely happy that we were given the opportunity to do this studio day.
